Path of Exile is an online action role playing game (RPG) set in a fantasy world. Developed by the new Zealand based Grinding Gear Games, it is free-to-play but is supported by in game purchases.
In Path of Exile, the player starts waking up on the shores of Wraeclast, a remote continent and criminal colony. You must face the dangerous wilderness with its dangerous inhabitants and join together with other outcasts to survive.
You control a single character from a top down perspective exploring areas and underground caves or dungeons, fighting monsters and completing quests to gain experience points and equipment. The gameplay area is randomly generated so that it never gets boring however many times you replay it. In the main world, all players play on the same server but outside of this, the game creates different instances providing unique zones and areas to explore.
Items are also randomly generated and come in different rarities and powerful properties which means a lot of your time is spent searching for equipment. There are six different character classes and a bewildering number of core attributes, currency items and leagues.
Path of Exile is an enormous game that will thrill RPG fans.
