YouTube Player is a video streaming app for Windows 8 that allows you to search and watch YouTube's videos.
YouTube Player is one of the first YouTube apps on Windows 8. Unfortunately, it is missing many features. If you're expecting to log in and watch your playlists, saved videos, and subscriptions, look elsewhere. YouTube Player is a very basic application that's really only good for searching and watching video.
In addition to the lack of YouTube integration and sync, YouTube Player is missing the ability to view and make comments on videos. All it offers is a description field. There's no ability to like, favorite, or share a video from within the application. There's also no information about how many likes/dislikes or video views there are
In the options users will find the ability to enter in their YouTube user name to pull in their publicly favorited videos. This is great but still a very limited YouTube experience.
On the plus side, YouTube Player's interface is easy to navigate and searches were performed quickly. There are also video lists of top rated and trending videos. There's no way to browse categories within YouTube Player.
Overall, YouTube Player is a lackluster attempt at a YouTube app for Windows 8.
